Unique in their field, video search engine Blinkx has had a history with big players such as YouTube, Fox, Lycos and BBC News. Unlike others, Blinkx indexes the actual content of media (through speech recognition) rather than relying on tagging. This removes issues plaguing media searches since their inception: chief among those, human error. It’s no wonder Microsoft sought them out as a possible addition to their MSN and Live.com services.
We recently joined Suranga Chandratillake to chat about Blinkx and their recent deal with Redmond’s finest.
