Posted on: February 22nd, 2007 | 3 Comments

Google has stepped up its battle with Microsoft for users of online applications. The Google Apps Premier Edition launched today, and it will compete with Microsoft’s well-known Office software and their Office Live services. Google Apps combines a number of applications like Gmail and Docs & Spreadsheets into one place anyone with a web browser can reach. The Premier Edition is available for free until April 30th, when Google will charge fifty dollars per user account per year. Premier customers get some extra services, like tech support from Google and the option to turn off advertisements in Gmail.

  1. We may state it with no reason of doubt: Open Source Commerce is an unbelievably opportune opening for e-commerce development. Its merits are in its particularities that make it possible for online shops to be organized in practically very little time and with no costs at all, since we are talking about Open Source software programs. In other words, osCommerce covers successfully and in more than affordable limits the fundamental needs of online shop setup.

A step to far? Google can’t seriously believe that they will get anywhere with this?? Who would want to use a spreadsheet program that is hosted on a central server as opposed to locally and is not what 99% of the rest of the business world is using? I know that some people will – because some people always do. But get real, what possible impact can Googe realy have with this?

Maybe they should have carried on being a big fish in the shallow water.
