SES: Mona Elesseily’s Interview with Yahoo’s Martin Byrne on Yahoo Canada

Posted on: April 20th, 2007 | One Comment

Yahoo has opened a Canadian office to accommodate its rapid growth. Yahoo takes its international consumers very seriously, which explains the office for its 34 million Canadian consumers. In an interview with our Webpronews correspondent Mona Elesseily at the SES conference in New York, Martin Byrne of Yahoo Canada spoke about the office and new ventures.

The office includes business development, advertising, marketing, and sales departments. Whether an advertiser, publisher, or a consumer with questions about search marketing, the Canadian location offers services for all areas. The Canadian office staff can answer any questions that the United States offices can, but they, of course, specialize in the Canadian market with topics such as traffic and business development opportunities in Canada.

Advertising in Canada is a hot topic. Many advertisers merely extend their ad campaigns to Canada. If time permits, advertisers will gain better results if they have their own separate campaigns for the Canadian region. Tactics that work in the United States may not work as well for the target market in Canada.

Byrne explains to Elesseily the newest endeavors of Yahoo including the latest with Content Match. They are utilizing a graphical approach in the Panama Project. Yahoo is always looking at areas of development and improvement for the consumer.
