Lack of Trust in Search Engines
The results are in for a poll created as part of Hakia.com’s program, “A Search for Better Search.” The poll was conducted to learn what users think of search engines and if they trust them. I think hakia.com needs to focus more on the quality of their search results. In this way they will become a lot more useful to the surfers.

You should take a look at http://www.linguisticagents.com. It’s a start-up company that has developed a natural language understanding technology that will be used in many applications in addition to search.

[...] This might be an answer to a recent poll conducted by Hakia which came out with the result, that 62 % of searchers don’t trust search engines. Of course Hakia is a search engine, too. But this engine does not place cookies on the user’s computer (without permission) and they are the very first to do so. From the beginning Hakia had a different approach to privacy matters but for quite some time obviously this was not noticed by searchers. So their poll can be seen as a marketing effort to promote that search engine. [...]
