What the heck is up with big companies doing this lately?!? I’m the dude that just went through the thing with Viacom over the clip I posted on YouTube of VH1 using my original video. Miss Chang’s situation is in every way much WORSE than my own was. And the context in which Virgin chose to use Chang’s photo is, not to put too fine a point on it, vulgar. Where is Virgin’s sense of decency?
Historically, big business has always done whatever they wanted to achieve their ends until the Little Guys (and Gals) step up and stand up.
It’s cases like this that set precedent and change laws that check these kinds of abuses – or at least work to minimize them in some small way. And usually it takes not one case but many to see positive results.
