Katherine Olson of Minnesota thought she was answering a normal posting on Craigslist. The posting asked for a nanny and Olson had a background in babysitting, so she decided to meet the parents to check out the situation. Olson’s body was found later in her car in a park near the author’s house. The Police Department in Savage, Minnesota has searched the 19-year-old suspect’s house. For more details of the murder and ways to help as reported by Kara Ratliff, keep watching WebProNews.

I had a similar situation on craigslist, but than God was not that bad. I had my ID stolen after answering a job ad, and i will never post there again.
It is a dangerous world we live in. It is important to have faith and just try to do our best. The Internet is just a representation of the world. Good and Bad. It is just a tool. I pray for the victim family. I pray that the killer has a change of heart and turns himself in.

That’s really sad and scary. My heart goes out to the victim and her family. There are alot of bad people out there – stay safe everyone!
It’s a shame that we live in a world were trust is a forgotten commodity. But the fact is that you cannot afford to trust anything posted on the Internet. It must become a common rule that anyone searching anything on the Internet should do a great deal of use caution. Do your research and never ever go any ware alone to meet anybody that you meet on line.
This story actually really shocked me. I suppose it shouldn’t really but I still believe that most people are inherently good. Situations people find themselves in can ‘flick the switch’. My heart goes out to this persons family.
This is sad, but this shouldn’t be a reflection of Craigslist. That ad might have been placed on a bulletin board at a local grocery store, or in the local news paper classified section.
We tend to say that parents should be watching their kids’ online activity, but truth be told all people should be careful when they plan to meet a stranger, even for what appears to be legitimate business.
I use eBay, Craigslist, Kijiji…etc, and will meet someone to close a transaction, buying and selling cell phones, PDAs, etc… it is a risk, but I will meet that person in a public place more often than not.
Each individual must take precautions to protect their safety and security. There are people out there looking for victims.
I agree with DG, this isn’t something that should scare people away from craigslist. It could have happened anywhere. I’ve used craigslist for some time and seen great results with my listings.
I do give my condolences to the family and worry about the safety of my kids as things just seem to be getting worse all the time.
craigslist sucks.
I hate the phishing emails they appear to get more desperate by the day I recieve two or three on a daily basis and submit them to phishtrackers a site I stumbled upon that allows you to submit them anonymously.
