Wouldn’t it be great to be able to transfer your data from your profile on one social network to your profile on another social network? The Data Portability Workgroup is aiming to do that very thing. WebProNews Reporter Abby Prince talked with Chris Saad, DataPorability.org’s Co-Founder and Chairman, about the initiative.

The Data Portability Workgroup contains many companies including Google, Plaxo, Facebook, and LinkedIn, just to name a few.     I agree with the privacy thing. That is a major issue and I think that perhaps the idea behind these companies sharing is wrong. Instead of the companies choosing to share the data, there should be a central hub where people can store addresses they want to share. I think the model that Plaxo has is much better as far as data portability goes concerning privacy and I think Facebook is the anti-christ.

    Data portability will save people time when they sign up on lots of different websites. Privacy should not be an issue because people give out information that they are comfortable to give out, be it on one website or a hundred.

    Cant wait for this new technology.
