Mike McDonald had a nice chat about social media platforms with Brent Csutoras, an Online Marketing Consultant with BrentCsutoras.com, and Todd Malicoat of Stuntdubl at SES New York. Malicoat expresses his endorsement of Facebook, while Csutoras praises Twitter. Csutoras refers to Facebook as “toy” and doesn’t believe it’s an effective marketing tool. Malicoat says he has not actually used Facebook as a marketing tool, but believes it shows great marketing potential. Tune into all the details only on WebProNews. I have to go w/ Brent on this one – Facebook is great but has too much crap on it – twitter rawks it’s a great way to keep up w/ everyone and getting links the second they come out (that’s where I got the link to this video… from twitter) re-twitted it too

Facebook is ‘aight’ but really not a great marketing tool. It kinda turns into a big popularity contest, and I haven’t seen a lot of clicks originate from it.
Twitter is much more immediate, and clicks happen almost as soon they come out. Case in point, I visited based on NeO’s re-twit
Twitter is indeed a better social media marketing tool than Facebook. Don’t get me, Facebook has some good potential if is use right as a general business marketing tool that can increase brand awareness, produce joint venture partnerships, develop a targeted business networking group. And actually is good for opt-in list building. But, still far from the marketing power that Twitter give their users… from SEO one way back link building, direct active links, fast communication tool, list building, and more…
But, as a marketer you should test different strategies on both and see whats better use of your time. Twitter is a must for all marketers, but don’t overestimate the marketing power of Facebook.

I guess it boils down on what your trying to market.
