Microsoft + Powerset = Search Innovation

WebProNews had a visitor this week from Microsoft. Jeremiah Andrick of Live Search Webmaster Center stopped by our studios and caught us up on the latest Microsoft news. One topic of interest was Microsoft’s acquisition of Powerset earlier this month. Jeremiah explains how Microsoft was attracted to Powerset for its interesting semantic approach.   1. It is interesting that this comes after Google’s buyout offer of Digg was abandoned. Perhaps that was one of the reasons that Google was interested, looking for a semantic type of search or one that they could play with.

    Needless to say, I am very interested in how this buying of Powerset will affect SEO.

  2. At the risk of pedantry, I wish to point out a typo. The Powerset approach is “semantic”, not “symantec”. The latter is a company.
