With the election just a couple of weeks away, WebProNews caught up with Eric Frenchman, the Chief Internet Strategist for McCain-Palin to talk about remaining Internet strategies. Since the Presidential race is tight, Eric emphasizes the importance of geotargeting and microtargeting everything. He says this same principle should be applied to other campaigns as well.

I wanted to comment and thank the author, good stuff
Are we ready for change? Yes we are. Historically, our nations best leaders have been thrust upon us in the wake of terrible ones. The 15th president, James Buchanan, is known as having failed our country more than any other president by allowing the Civil War to develop, which allowed our country to unravel into chaos. Who other than Abe Lincoln stepped in and united us as a nation once again.
Bush has failed us for a number of reasons which we are all aware of… People will look back on the travesty that was the Bush administration and label it the worst presidency in the history of our nation. Obama will be seen as another great leader, like Lincoln, who will unite us as one again and pull us out of the quagmire that Bush has left us in.
Congratulations to Barack Obama and to the USA .. I think you have chosen wisely.
I hope you are not too disappointed Bluto, JD and Pattie. The next few years will not be easy for any of us on either side of the pond .. but I truly believe Obama as president will bring many refreshing changes and a start to the recovery in many areas of all our lives .. time will tell.
My very best to you all ….
Cheers
Nev
Hi JD,
You are obviously well-experienced in researching each nuance of every statement made, often in the “heat of political battle”. Believe me, we have enough trouble of our own with our politicians, but minute evaluation of each comment made in similar circumstances, does little to make the overall situation much clearer.
In the UK we do seem to have fair and unbiased coverage of your election coverage, both from our own TV channels and from a variety of US media stations on cable TV.
But to boil it down to basics: Under which party is the USA going to stand a better chance of recovery and attaining, as you put it, the “American Dream” ?
Under the auspices of the Democrats, with a young, confident gentlemanly candidate who seems to have fresh ideas and is backed by ( not ‘the same as’ ) the vast experience of his party’s leading politicians, who have a record of more than a little proven success in their political and private lives ..
… or the Republicans, led by an elderly gentleman with close ties to Bush’s / The Democrats’ previous failed policies … seemingly with little to offer other than more of the same … backed by an inexperienced young lady with profligate spending habits and little grasp of world events, yet another actor in the shape of good old Arnie Schwarzenegger and the rest of his party ‘not-so-quietly’ squabbling over many of their candidate’s choices ?
I can say no more … other than please choose wisely … the rest of the world waits !
Nev.
My brother lives in the UK. So I’m aware of the news coverage you get on the other side of the pond. A Friend from France visited me this week(BIG SOCIAL LIBERAL) and even he told me about the media bias in Europe.
I’ve noticed you mention the Clinton’s. What the news media failed to inform the outside world is that the Clintons don’t agree with most the Obama ticket stands for. But, being politics, Hillary endorsed the Obama ticket because her political party expects her too.
On only two occasions did the Clinton’s made an appearance for the Obama ticket. The rest of the time they’ve been nowhere to be seen. The Clinton’s stay out of the media and makes sure the people do not in any way put them under the same light.
This is what the media don’t share with the world:
All these statements where made in the primary’s when Hillary Clinton ran against Obama for presidential nominee and I quote them verbatim.
Clinton campaign’s communications director accused Sen. Barack Obama of committing “plagiarism”. He said:
“Sen. Obama is running on the strength of his rhetoric and the strength of his promises and, as we have seen in the last couple of days, he’s breaking his promises and his rhetoric isn’t his own. When an author plagiarizes from another author there is damage done to two different parties. One is to the person he plagiarized from. The other is to the reader,”
The Clinton campaign circulated a pair of YouTube links of the two speeches in question.( I can provide more if you need)
I have copies of letters where the Clinton camp raise issues about Obama. Here’s a couple examples of complaints filed by the Hillary Clinton campaign:
*Voters at at-large caucus sites were informed that those sites were for Obama supporters only.
*Clinton supporters at at-large caucus sites were told that their managers would be watching them while they caucused.
*Workers were informed that their supervisors kept lists of Clinton and Obama supporters, and were told that they could not caucus unless their name was on the list of Obama supporters.
*Many Clinton supporters were threatened with employment termination or other discipline if they caucused for Senator Clinton.
*Workers were required to sign a pledge card to support Obama if they wanted time off to participate in the caucus.
*Workers at one casino were offered a lavish lunch and permitted to attend and register to vote only if they agree to support Obama.
Mmmmm, just do a Google search with Lyn Utrecht and Obama both in the search tab. Utrecht is the Clinton lawyer.
In the sharpest attack, Obama said that Clinton’s threat to “totally obliterate” Iran should it attempt a nuclear attack on Israel was inappropriate. “It’s not the language we need right now. It’s language that’s reflective of George Bush,” he said.
The campaigns of Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton, in a bitter clash over the Nevada caucuses, accused each other of dirty politics and irregularities on Wednesday and asked the Nevada Democratic Party to investigate.
Clinton won the popular vote by a margin of 51 percent to 45 percent on Saturday. Under complicated delegate allocation rules, however, Obama could receive 13 delegates to Clinton’s 12.
Even Bill himself accused Obama of “Vote Rigging in one of his speeches.
So in short, don’t ever see Obama the same as the Clintons. They differ completely, only common thing they have is the Democratic party.
Cheers
JD
Oh good. The religious contingent has officially weighed in.
I typically vote republican because I am a fiscal conservative. Someday, hopefully in my lifetime maybe we’ll get to a point where we can elect leaders based on their earthly accomplishments and not on based on their alignment with whatever divinity.
We got a guy in office now who thinks god is talking to him. That hasn’t worked out so hot exactly by most accounts.
We got people in other countries from other religions wanting to kill us because their vision of their god doesn’t jibe with our vision of ours.
But this isn’t anything new is it?
We’ve had crusades, inquisitions, jihads, intifadas… you name it all over gods of some sort.
The human history of ‘holy’ wars is a pretty pathetic case study of power plays and means of controlling the herd - convincing them they need to act in the interests of whatever establishment because ‘god’ says it’s the thing to do.
Call me crazy but I think we’d be better off keeping our eyes on things here on earth and I’d very much prefer somebody in office doing the same.
Remember it was the little sheppard boy David who killed Goliath, saved the people and later became the most loved and respected King. Palin could just be that sheppard girl.
David relied on his Creator for strength and wisdom not on his own strength and education. America would do well to do the same; the founding fathers did, and the country thrived becoming the greatest nation on earth. If you think this is not true, why do so many from all parts of the world, even those that hate and want to destroy her, flock to her shores? They all want to enjoy her prosperity and FREEDOM, and some, grudgingly to destroy her.
It is time for all Americans to stop looking for another scapegoat to blame for their impending downfall and to start upholding their motto IN GOD WE TRUST. America was ONE NATION UNDER GOD, now God has being kicked out to the point, that anyone who claims the name of Christ is ridiculed. So guess what guys? Sad to say, America may now be ONE NATION UNDER, unless of course they can find a leader whose help comes from the GOD OF THE BIBLE and will see to it that God is put back in His rightful place - ON TOP. Education and degrees in economic will not cut it this time.
Hi JD and Bluto,
OK .. excellent comments and an interesting debate .. but you both failed to notice that I was passing on comments received ‘from an American friend’, which mainly concerned the racial aspects that, from the outside looking in, appear to be influencing a lot of Americans’ opinions and might easily have a bearing on the future of your country Bluto.
I’m a Brit .. our media is full of your election coverage and we are very concerned with the results of your forthcoming election and the hoped-for successful future of your country.
Leaving the race issue aside, my personal views are that the rest of the world is suffering from the years of Bush’s tenure, in many areas, not just the financial chaos instigated by foolish mortgage lending. In this world of easy information access through modern technology, I find it incredible that the facts you say are unobtainable, are indeed unobtainable. But I will have to take your word for it.
Leaving aside the hype which accompanies much of of both party’s election coverage, to many ( perhaps the majority )of us in the UK, a McCain victory would equal more of the same Bush-type policies. As importantly; to have the inexperienced Palin literally a heartbeat away from the Presidency, would potentially be a recipe for disaster, for you and the rest of the world.
Sadly I cannot vote .. but if I could .. you bet I would vote for a young, bright and intelligent Obama. Backed by the experience and standing of Biden and the Clintons, surely this is the only recipe for radical change that is presently on offer to the American electorate and which is really needed, for all our sakes.
I hope you don’t mind a Brit adding his comments .. whatever you all decide for your country, we on this side of the ‘pond’ will also be directly affected by it. I wish you all well in coming to the best voting decisions, based on the actual facts available.
Hmmm. doesn’t seem to “flighty” now does it NEV.
You made a list of inconsequential questions having no bearing on the future of this country.
Vote with the facts in your mind, not your heart on your sleeve.
Ladies, Gentleman, Bluto & Nev.
Greetings
This is not a High School Class President election. It’s the election for the highest office in the FREE world…. The PRESIDENT of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA.
When electing such an official, there should be NO RULES, NO HOLDS BARRED.
The American voter has the RIGHT to know everything about the candidates running for office.
The American people have the RIGHT to ask ANY question they want.
Regardless of what the answers might be. Let the PEOPLE decide if they are happy with the answer and in the end, make their choice based on the FACTS laid out by the candidates during the Q & A’s.
Seeing that President is the highest office in America, and that you have to be a Born Citizen of the United States of America, ALL candidates entering the Primary’s, MUST have they certificates of BIRTH available for all that’s interested to see, and confirm.
They should not have the rights to withhold ANY information form the American public regarding their past, regardless of what might be in that closet. Let the American people decide how they feel about the skeletons.
I am a Libertarian, neither a republican nor a Democrat. I support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters.
I advocate a much smaller government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence.
I tend to EMBRACE individual responsibility, OPPOSE government bureaucracy and taxes, PROMOTE private charity, TOLERATE diverse lifestyles, SUPPORT the free market, and defend civil liberties.
I do NOT strongly support the GOP. I do however OPPOSE the doctrines of the Democrats(This ticket more than others due the strong SOCIALIST stench to it).
If Senator Hillary Clinton ran, I would have supported her, because I do believe that she and Bill can fix things, the world have a very high opinion of the Clintons. I think 4 – 8 years with them in office would have been rough, but best for America.
Because of my strong opposition of socialism and welfare, I will support the strongest party apposing the democrats, in hopes that the prevent them from taking office and at the same time start removing the AMERICAN DREAM.
The AMERICAN DREAM is a WORLD WIDE phrase, spoken by many with strive and strong will. The AMERICAN DREAM promise that if your work hard and better yourself through hard work and education(Not welfare and redistribution of wealth) you can achieve the highest goals WITHOUT PENALTY.
In other words, you DESERVE WHAT YOU WORK FOR.
OBAMA SAYS, EVERYBODY DESERVES WHAT YOU WORK FOR, And those that made no effort at all, deserve it even more, because they must have some civil reason for being a “Not Contributing Citizen of America”
I believe in the days when the police (civil servants) stood for what they signed on their cars : TO SERVE AND PROTECT. When last did you see that on a police car? And now in this election the police and STATE PROSECUTORS threaten American citizens with legal action if the “Question Obama’s faith”???? ( Oh Nev, these are FACTS, search and you’ll find)
An American, now known as “Joe the plumber” ask an question that concerns him and HE gets nailed by the Obama camp because of the answer OBAMA GAVE !!!!!!!!!!
There’s something wrong with that picture. “Joe” did not accuse Senator Obama of “distributing the wealth”, The senator made that statement himself. Now because the senator answered truthfully(unintentional) He, senator Obama wants to ruin “Joe” for Obama’s comment??
They actually had law departments do background checks on “Joe”, IRS checks, Social services checks. Every check you can think of. These checks are usually for criminals.
Is this the government you want next? A government that restrict your free speech? They’re doing it now and they’re not even in power yet, what do you think they will do when in power?
Listen to what Obama said in 2001 in an interview conducted by Chicago Public Radio.
Obama delved into whether the civil rights movement should have gone further than it did, so that when “dispossessed peoples” appealed to the high court on the right to sit at the lunch counter, they should have also appealed for the right to have someone else pay for the meal.
Obama said the civil rights movement was victorious in some regards, but failed to create a “redistributive change” in its appeals to the Supreme Court, led at the time by Chief Justice Earl Warren. He suggested that such change should occur at the state legislature level, since the courts did not interpret the U.S. Constitution to permit such change.
“The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of basic issues of political and economic justice in this society, and to that extent as radical as people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical,” Obama said in the interview.
“And I think one of the tragedies of the civil rights movement was that the civil rights movement became so court-focused, I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and organizing activities on the ground that are able to bring about the coalitions of power through which you bring about redistributive change, and in some ways we still suffer from that,”
These are not “rumors” Nev, the transcripts are out there, find them if you doubt yourself.
Barack Obama expressed his regret that the Supreme Court hadn’t been more ‘radical’ and described as a ‘tragedy’ the court’s refusal to take up ‘the issues of redistribution of wealth.’
No wonder he wants to appoint judges that legislate from the bench.
I can go on forever. My point is, DON’T VOTE FOR A PARTY, VOTE FOR YOUR FUTURE.
EDUCATE YOURSELF in order to make decisions for yourself, don’t rely on government to do it for you.
Now GO AND VOTE with your mind and intelligence, NOT your heart and it’s feelings. Cast politics out and judge the tickets on what they can do for your future.
If you’re a useless slob that prefer to have no pride and plan to live on free welfare and other people hard earned money, vote Democrat this year and your dreams will come true.
And by the way. How is any of this related to race?
Ok, show me the facts, That’s all I ask. I’m not making anything up. Search for yourself.
And I do not claim they all are facts. I include only the information available. Some of these claims are however facts. He was friendly with a known terrorist and admitted it. The cloudy part comes in in how did he afford to attend Harvard, and what he did while he was there. Clear this up for me please.
Obama could clear all of this up instantly, if he were to disclose the facts, which he refuses to do.
Come back here with his Harvard records, and quote them verbatim,….you can’t, because he has forbidden it.
Come back with his medical records….you can’t, he has forbidden it.
This is not vivid imagination or paranoia, but a discomfort of a man who chooses to hide so much, when running for this, the highest office in the world.
I’d be happy, very happy to have you come back with facts that disprove this.
Please, please make me and many others happy.
Hi Bluto,
Good points, IF they were true !
But what if you are simply making them up and scaremongering for your own racist or other agenda ?
You words seem to suggest flights of fancy and a vivid imagination, rather than facts.
But as you say, we will see if anything untoward hits the fan in the future, other than that which will help the US out of its present difficulties.
What if Obama revealed ANY information regarding his University records, while attending Harvard which was probably being funded by a foreign arms dealer, ( we don’t know otherwise because he won’t tell us), while at the same time hanging around with an admitted and known terrorist? And all we can find about his thesis is the title, which escapes me at the moment, but dealt with Soviet Nuclear capabilities. He has forbidden the release of any of his records.
What if Obama revealed ANY of his medical records?
So, we have a man who is hiding some kind of medical condition, who was hanging around with known terrorists while at University, which was funded by an arms dealer.
Great…Sounds like a man I want to trust.
This man is hiding way to much,…and it will come out, simply because he’s trying to hide it.
And it will hit the fan with a force unknown to mankind before.
Sure, McCain’s career is totally public, and he’s aware of his mistakes.
I don’t trust a man who is hiding this much, who is running for the highest office in the world.
Until he comes clean, there will always be distrust.
Get ready for socialism America, because if he gets elected, that’s what we get.
Received from an astute friend in America:
What if……
Obama/Biden vs McCain/Palin, what if things were switched around?…..think
about it. Would the country’s collective point of view be different?
Ponder the following:
What if the Obamas had paraded five children across the stage, including a three
month old infant and an unwed, pregnant teenage daughter?
What if John McCain was a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain had only married once, and Obama was a divorcee?
What if Obama was the candidate who left his first wife after a severe
disfiguring car accident?
What if Obama had met his second wife in a bar and had a long affair while he
was still married?
What if Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to pain killers
but also acquired them through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama had been a member of the Keating Five?
(The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in
1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings
and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s.)
What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
What if Obama couldn’t read from a teleprompter?
What if Obama was the one who had military experience that included discipline
problems and a record of crashing seven planes?
What if Obama was the one who was known to display publicly, on many occasions, a serious anger management problem?
What if Michelle Obama’s family had made their money from beer distribution?
What if the Obamas had adopted a white child?
You could easily add to this list. If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive
qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

Education isn’t everything, but this is about the two highest offices in the land as well as our standing in the world. Think about it.
I WAS A REPUB AT ONE TIME. NOW I AM NEITHER DEM OR REPUB. A PERSON’S ALLEGIANCE SHOULD BE TO WHAT IS BEST FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. FORGET THE WHITE/BLACK THING WHICH I SEE ON A CONSTANT BASIS. AND REGARDING MRS PALIN, CHARISMA WON’T HELP IN THE WHITE HOUSE. SHE NEEDS MORE EXPERIENCE. AND SINCE MR MCCAIN SIDES WITH MR BUSH I CAN’T HELP BUT VOTE FOR SOME ONE ELSE. IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE OBAMA BUT IT WON’T BE MCCAIN!!
Agreed Mary, but the ads for Obama buttons and all have had the reverse effect on me. I’m completely turned off by the inundation of Obama ads.
Being a “beginner” social marketing guru and a long-time online marketer, I am confused on the lack of social marketing ads that the Republics have used in this campaign. From Facebook to Zimbio, all I see is Obama ads … everywhere. I am a Republican that feels that Sarah Palin’s charisma is not being used to it’s fullest extend online (or offline at that matter). Why isn’t the power of social marketing used on this campaign?
