Nokia turned a lot of heads at CES 2009 with its Nokia N97. The smartphone is part of the company’s N series of multimedia computers and is being labeled the “world’s most advanced mobile computer.” This flagship product of Nokia’s N series that is said to be designed for the “needs of Internet savvy customers” has a 3.5-inch touch display and a full QWERTY keyboard.
This phone brings out a new concept that Nokia calls “social location.” In this video, Laura Mitchell of Nokia explains how the device is equipped with A-GPS sensors and an internal compass to allow users to find and share their own location, update their social networks, and share pictures and videos.
The 16:9 widescreeen display can be fully customized and plays widescreen DVDs in widescreen format. The N97 ensures that all the regular tasks that you need to do such as emailing, texting, blogging, and posting can be done easily through either the virtual touch input or the physical QWERTY.
The smartphone holds up to 48 GB of storage, which includes 32 GB of on-board memory with microSD expansion. The battery life is reportedly capable up to 1.5 days of continuous audio playback time and up to 4.5 hours of video playback time. The phone also includes a 5-Megapixel camera with high-quality Carl Zeiss optics.
Last but certainly not least, the Nokia N97 is expected to be released to Europe and Asia during the first half of 2009 and then to the U.S. shortly after. The estimated price is $695 (550 euros).

This looks like a great device that gives you a buying option with iphone, i personally dont like touch phone based telephones, but i cant deny its usefulness and its fantastic many features.
For the people who comment that this device is slow, it is not. Its a flagship model and if you look up the guy who design the phone, he said it may look slow, but the real model that coming out soon is faster
Best device of such that is ever invented. Those who have never had a $600+ phone of this type will always have something negative to say about Nokia devices. It is obvious that they dont understand the versatility of Nokia phones. This unit is excellent choice for someone on the go. The only drawback with Nokia phones is the slow release in USA. I know that folks in USA will be buying this phone faster than they can imagine. so, why have it out in EU and Asia and then USA. Why not release the US version simultaneously. Cant wait to get one. Anyone knows what freq the N97 works on. I heard that it is suppose to be Quin-Band. Not sure which 3G freq it will work on? Any one with the actual data.

The N97 camera is also much much better than the iphone. The menu and home screens are much more customizable. The touch interface is pressure sensitive rather than conductive. Symbian OS is more prevalent and developed for than probably anything out there at this point with the exception of Android possibly. If you’re looking to do a lot of admin interfacing though, I think the full keyboard on the G1 (Google phone) is going to be tough to beat but both it and the N97 would be easier to type a lot on.
For starters the difference is 32GB of memory and multiple input (keyboard) options.

Which is best? also whats difference between iphone and this phone.

This is so slow and clunky. It will take a lot to convince me that there is anything out there which is a better mobile internet device than the Iphone. Nokia are good at cramming everything into a phone but not one of those applications works with speed and fluidity. It’s a big waste of money. Get an Iphone and then a notebook or something for the extra more PC orientated tasks.
pretty slow… if you’re paying attention, at one time when the lady closed the lid, the phone didn’t immediately go back to its normal “phone” state. You have to wait for this, just like on the HTCs. But the HTCs have Windows, which is more unstable than the S60, but you have much more flexibility and more software for it. The N97 is somewhat an evolved version of the HTC TyTnII let’s say, although I heard that the HTC HD has much better options enabled. Finally, Nokia woke up and realized today’s phones aren’t just phones for a long time now. Just like auto makers have to realize there’s a huge need for electric vehicles.
