Loading ...What in the world are neckphones? S1 Audio introduced the series at CES 2009 to give your ears a break from headphones and earbuds. The series includes NxSET Music 1 and NxSET Music 2 to use with portable music devices.
The neckphones sit comfortably on the neck and have speakers on either side that project music up to the user’s ear. The device is lightweight and comfortable and includes an expandable neckband. The NxSet can also be placed on a table or central area to share the music with a number of people.
The NxSET Music 2 is essentially identical to NxSET Music 1 but also contains built-in retractable earbuds for private listening. Both Music 1 and Music 2 operate with 2 AA batteries. The products are known for the “internal audio amplifier to deliver rich bass and clear, crisp middle-and-high range sound.”

I cant really say i am impressed by this devices, but i guess some people may somehow come to use it.
Maybe someone will take this idea and improve upon it. I think there is a lot of scope for a device that doesn’t actually enter the ear. I can see people that are worried about damaging their hearing could use something like this, but i think just having it rest on your shoulder just isn’t practical. I think in an every day world where we move from place to place this kind of device won’t work.
I thought this was going to be something really high-tech, but am i right in thinking its just a pair of speakers that sits on your shoulders. I thought they where going to send reverberations through the side of the face for it to be picked up by the inner ear. This just seems a bit too rudimentary to me.
