FriendFeed is a feed aggregator that compiles updates from social networks, blogs, and more all in one place. These updates are streamed into a real-time conversation and the company is working to make their real-time capabilities better. In the above video, social media expert Chris Brogan shares his thoughts about FriendFeed saying:

“FriendFeed is one of these tools that I think is really cool, but I just don’t see it getting the public eye.”

One interesting issue that Chris raises is that there is still a lot to be figured out with these sites that try to conglomerate all Web activities. The first “good” attempt to solve the problem was OpenID and there have been other attempts such as Google Friend Connect and Pownce.

What are these sites missing? Is there a solution?

Well, in my opinion twitter will fade out because their email notifications are weak. They should have an option to get biweekly updates, weekly updates, and to follow via email specific posters. This would open them up to a huge email marketing market… like webpronews has established, and increase their revenue.

It won’t be replaced by facebook because facebook is too personal of an approach.

I don’t see Google coming over the top of the social market. But still Google will be involved.

As for Friend Feed, it just looks like a twitter clone so far. But interesting.

Take me back to the client days.
