It is clear that the Web has evolved over the past few years into a multimedia platform. As a result of that evolution, LeapFish launched as a search engine in November of 2008. As Mark Kithcart of LeapFish explains, the company wanted their search engine to integrate multimedia directly into their search results.

LeapFish search results consist of Google, Yahoo, and MSN results as well as various forms of multimedia. In addition, LeapFish runs background algorithms that provide local features such as Yelp reviews and other rich media content.

The company is currently developing LeapFish 2.0, which will allow users to socialize content and add content to the Web through a search-based engine. This platform will also be customizable and will offer users a better search experience.
