Security is always a concern, especially online. Unfortunately, it has become very easy for hackers to scam online consumers. What’s worse is that these hackers have also become very sophisticated and make almost exact replicas of legitimate sites.
Traditionally, banks and financial institutions were the primary targets for hackers, but now brands are coming under attack. Part of this transition is due to the fact that consumers have grown smarter about giving out their private information on banking sites. However, many of those same consumers are not as cautious on e-commerce sites.
According to Ryan White of VeriSign, there are thousands of new fraudulent sites created each day. To help brands protect themselves and their consumers, VeriSign has a defensive feature to ensure that security. When businesses use Extended Validation SSL, the address bar turns green to show consumers that it is a safe site.
In addition, VeriSign has a Phish or No Phish program in which the company educates consumers on how to distinguish between a genuine site and fraudulent site.

Hi Ryan,
This is great information. Another great way for website owners to protect themselves and their website from hackers is to have their website scanned daily for vulnerabilities.
Most people are unaware of this but there are actually over 30,000 known vulnerabilities that hackers can use to infiltrate a website and steal information.
Once a site passes their daily scan, they get a Trust Guard ‘Security Scanned’ seal to add to their site so that their customers can validate the scan, which adds an extra level of security and peace of mind.
Sincerely,
Scott Brandley, CEO
Trust Guard
Oh please! A certificate that helps “stop” hacking (roll eyes).
Why has nobody mentioned real ways to stop hackers like editing the .htaccess, turning off indexes, applying software patches, apply operating system patches, doing your own vulnerability scanning…
Oh and 30,000 known vulnerabilities? Ok great but you failed to mention the zero day exploits and other methods that are generally unknown.
This isn’t an article on “How to protect your website from hackers” This is a commercial for a rip off product from the rip off masters, Verisign.
The problem this addresses (and not well), isn’t even hacking, it’s phishing which is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay different.
I’m a little embarassed for WebProNews (my favorite site). This is like some Fox News channel story during the Gulf War. You guys are sooooo above this. PLEASE don’t stoop like this anymore…
We love you!
***I GIVE THIS VIDEO and ARTICLE 5 STARS!***
Internet security should be a priority with
every online buyer and seller. That is why
I personally always do my online shopping with
a website or eBay store that I trust and have
done business with before.
With eBay Stores for example, potential buyers are able
to view an eBay seller’s customer feedback BEFORE making
a purchase which further enhances a buyers’ security when
making their purchase to ensure the buyer that the online
seller is legitimate and not a scam artist just out to commit fraud.
Thank you so much for posting this. =)
Sincerely yours,
Tonya

OMG! Are you seriously trying to pass your self off as a web designer? I hope you aren’t charging anyone! My 12 year old does better that. You evidently don’t even know how SEO works. Here’s a hint, spammin us with that domain name isn’t going to help you AT all.
I’m sorry to be so harsh with you, but you are obviously putting a fair amount of time and effort into something you are absolutely HORRIBLE at. Please, for your sake, stop. Plus we really don’t want to see crap that nasty!
Hilarious! She has “Please give the black screen
below 12 seconds to load up.
It is worth the wait and please
be sure to turn up your volume!” It’s preloader is stuck at 182%
Awesome!
