Because email marketing is one of the oldest forms of Internet marketing, many people think it is outdated and not useful. But according to blogging legend Darren Rowse of ProBlogger, it is anything but dead.
He began utilizing email newsletters since his parents wanted a way to get the latest content from his blog. Rowse originally thought that RSS would kill email marketing but now realizes that email is one of the most popular ways that people, both young and old, access information on the Web.
As a result of his email marketing efforts, two thirds of the people that subscribe to his blog now subscribe to his weekly newsletter as well. Only one third of the people that subscribe to his blog also subscribe to his RSS feeds. Consequently, email is now one of Rowse’s most effective forms of marketing.
On a side note, Rowse along with two other blogging rockstars Chris Brogan and Brian Clark, have joined together to create a philosophy known as the Third Tribe. Traditionally, bloggers have been linked into one of two groups. The first group does not like to sell or market at all. The second group, also called the Internet marketing crowd, markets continually.
Rowse, Brogan, and Clark are building a site to help people who want to find a balance between the two groups. WebProNews will keep you posted on the Third Tribe as more information becomes available.

I’ve only been blogging 9 months, and have heard both sides. Personally I would rather get an email from someone and read it than to have to go to a reader and read all the mail.
Yes, there are still people who like the old fashioned newspaper feel that a reader gives, but I think Darren is probably right on, in that email is here to stay for a while.
Optimizing your income means you use systems that are designed to make you money today… and tomorrow… and next week… and next month… and next year… off work you did one time …and even if you never ever did the work again.
Hello
I beleive the old ways are better good search engine optimization counts for every thing and i beleive that e-mail marketing is just a nice word for spam and there are a ton of web sites doing e-mail marketing “spam” my web sites all 17 are hitting front page google and other major search engines in the world, so seo is the best, spam sorry e-mail marketing should be put to the sword, sorry thats what i think anyway on this, any web site that i make for customers make front page google in searches not just for domain name,
Michael

Totally agree with email being a very effective and efficient tool to educate and inform a targeted audience. A great way to get that audience to trust you and eager to “pull” more information from you and your site. Email is not dead!

Who ever said that email marketing is dead.
I presume it was the RSS feed evolution that caused the scar.
Email is the primary way that people communicate online.
It’s not dead.
Any proof? or is this just optinion?
