PubCon Las Vegas 2009 proved to be another great show. As Brett Tabke, PubCon Chairman and CEO of Webmaster World, explains, there were a few trends that stood out at the show including in-house SEO, SEO, and of course, social media.

SEO is always a popular topic at every show but surprisingly, the in-house SEO track was also packed to the point of standing-room only. With the economy in the shape it is, many large corporations are opting to bring their SEO in-house to save their company money.

With so many people talking about social media, it is no wonder that it was another hot topic at the show. Twitter, specifically, topped the hype. Tabke is a strong advocate of Twitter since it has proven to be a valuable marketing tool for the conference. He said PubCon spent $75K on marketing for the event in 2008. In 2009, however, they didn’t spend anything and simply used Twitter. Incidentally, the show’s attendance was up 20%.

Twitter is advancing to many new levels and we can likely bet that it will continue to be a trend at future events. PubCon already has dates set for an event in Dallas and Las Vegas for 2010. Check out their site for more information.
