You know how you can put something next to a quarter and take a picture of it to understand the size of that something? Well, sitting next to Rocketboom’s Joanne Colan sort of gives that effect. She’s tiny!

These guys were a lot of fun - freewheeling, excited, young, and irreverent. Dressed as a NASCAR pit crew (which is a great way to grab the attention of two guys running around with a camera) Dave Mansueto and Matt Hoopes wanted to emphasize that they worked for their clients to get them on the road to success, and the soapbox derby theme was an excellent to illustrate that this podcast medium was everyone’s medium.

Their business cards don’t list their positions with the company - just their names, their Skype handle, email, and phone number.

If you want to be a “Podcaster” it maybe easier than you think and the price is right! Curt Brandao, a.k.a. Digital Slob. answers the questions and tells you the basic equipment and cost to get started. That’s not all he comments on, integrating podcasting with print publications and the impact of Craigslist on classified advertising.

On a side note, when I talked to Brandao after his presentation, I had already stuffed him into the standard newspaper columnist box (I’ve spoken to many a-newspaper folk). But that’s before I heard his show on the sample CD, and chatted up hiswife/spokesmodel/co-host Olga Timakova, who was not only the talk of the conference, but also the number one cause of whiplash in the exhibition hall.

This kid will blow your mind. He did mine. Robbie Trencheny is the 14-year-old president and CEO of the Teen Podcasters Network. But he’s not the founder, he took over the company a year ago from a friend!

I kind of screwed up a couple of times because I was so taken aback by this young man’s ambition and business knowledge.

His next business goal: Turn 16 so he can drive himself to these conferences and get inside without a parent or guardian.

The organizer of the Podcast and Portable Media Expo in Ontario, Calif., (yes, California) Tim Bourquin, tells WebProNews about how this year’s big soiree turned out.

Last year was a sending out party. This year was a homecoming, where podcasters and vloggers talked about what worked, and what didn’t, and how to keep the ball rolling.
