Facebook Users Respond to Aging Social Network

A recent study done by iStrategy shows that there has been a 513% growth with users 55 years and older. That same study also showed that the use of college-aged students has dropped 21.7%. So it seems that what once was a networking haven for a very youthful group of college students is turning into an aging social network.

The coming of Oprah and Ashton Kutcher to Twitter brought a whole new meaning to the way the social site is perceived today and will be perceived in the future, according to social media expert Chris Brogan. He relates the situation to when the telephone came about saying that with Twitter, some will reject the service after a time, but there will still be newcomers anxious to get involved.

StumbleUpon Promises More Content Exposure

URL shorteners have grown increasingly valuable as a result of sites such as Twitter and Facebook becoming popular. They allow users to share long links across Twitter, Facebook, email, and other platforms. Up to this point, TinyURL and Bit.ly have been the most popular. This week however, StumbleUpon announced its own shortened url called Su.pr.
