Jon Pollock, Polaroid’s Chief Marketing Officer, spoke with WebProNews at CES 2010 and explained how so many people expressed remorse for the Instant Film products. Specifically, artists and photographers reached out to Polaroid and asked them to bring it back.

In November, the company made its official announcement that it was bringing back its classic film.  Polaroid will be offering a redesigned, modernized version of its OneStep camera that Pollock proudly showed off at CES.  He said this camera “really represents Polaroid.”

The PIC 1000 will be available just in time for the holidays this year. Incidentally, Polaroid’s new Creative Director, Lady Gaga, pointed out in this WPN report that she was excited to help Polaroid take its Instant Film into the digital age.

WebProNews spoke with Jon Pollock, Polaroid’s Chief Marketing Officer, who gave us more details of her duties. He said, “She’ll be in charge of directing us creatively and she’ll also be in charge of working with us on a co-branded line, a Polaroid-branded sub-brand with a Lady Gaga twist to it.”

New products from the partnership between Polaroid and Lady Gaga should be available by the end of this year.

With Polaroid Studio, users can completely customize their online experience. They can do this by adjusting the height and width at which the uploaded content is displayed, cropping, changing the colors, adding frames, as well as a variety of other editing options. Once the user finishes editing their photos, they can also put them on products such as mouse pads and coffee mugs.

In addition, the program includes numerous templates that users can use if they wish. There is no storage limit for photos and videos and users can upload as often as they want. Polaroid Studio also has a Facebook application that lets users copy photos from the program directly into the social network.

According to Hanley, Polaroid Studio is based upon user preference. She said the program can be as easy and quick as the user wants it to be, or as hard and creative as the user wants it to be.

The camera is the second product in the Polaroid PoGo line of products. Polaroid PoGo Instant Mobile Printer is first and the camera uses the same ZINK Paper and ZINK Zero Ink Printing Technology that the printer uses. Just as you would normally do with pictures from your digital camera, you can crop, edit, and zoom in on your pictures on a 3-inch color LCD screen before printing them.

The ZINK Zero Ink Printing Technology replaces ink cartridges and ribbons with the ZINK paper, which actually has the ink embedded into it. It takes 60 seconds for the camera to print a 2 x 3-inch photo. The printed pictures are immediately dry to touch and are durable and smudge and water-resistant.

The camera weighs 10 ounces, measures 4.7-inches wide, and is 3-inches tall. Users also have the option of printing with or without borders. The camera also contains a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.

The Polaroid PoGo Instant Digital Camera will be available in March and is set to cost $199. Ten-packs of ZINK Photo Paper are priced at $4.99 and 30-packs for $12.99.
