WebProNews got an up close and personal look at the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 at CES 2010. According to Michael Martin, this is the first phone that “really will out speed the iPhone 3GS.” Although iPhone lovers might consider that statement a debatable topic, there is still tremendous excitement around this mobile device.

First and foremost, this phone operates on the Android platform. Two of the most unique features include Sony Ericsson Timescape and Mediascape. Timescape provides a chronological collection of all communication on your phone in one place. Whether it is emails, Facebook, text messages, or phone calls, users have access to all of them through Timescape.

Mediascape is similar, but it stores all music, videos, and photos in one place. In the photos section, if a user tags one photo, the device will conduct facial recognition that goes back through the entire album and tags other images as long as 75 percent of the face is captured.

The speed of the device is one of the most talked about features and is credited to its 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. Although a release date for the U.S. has yet to be announced, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is expected to hit Canada in Q1 and Q2.

At CES 2010, Sony introduced the new dash personal Internet viewer. According to Sony, the Wi-Fi-enabled device "gives you the information that you care about instantly."

At CES 2010, Sony introduced its new dash Personal Internet Viewer. According to Sony, the Wi-Fi-enabled device “gives you the information that you care about instantly.”

Sony dash is equipped with a 7-inch color touch screen that provides access to over 1,000 free Internet applications such as news, weather, photos, and more. It also allows users to run multiple sources of content simultaneously. In addition, the alarm clock can be set so that any form of media can wake the user up.

The design structure of the device is very accommodating because it rotates. As a result, it can be used just as easily on a nightstand, as it can be used on a kitchen counter.

As a perk for third-party developers, dash is an open source platform. Anyone can submit an app to Sony for review.

The dash Personal Internet Viewer will be available for purchase in April for around $199.

Sony unveiled its VAIO P Series Lifestyle PC at CES this week and WebProNews was there to get a first-hand glance. Boasted as “the world’s lightest 8-inch notebook,” the device is less than 1-inch thick, weighs in at 1.4 pounds, and is small enough to fit inside a jacket pocket. In this video, the Product Manager for VAIO Product Marketing explains how this notebook can truly change your life.

Xavier Lauwaert first stresses the portability of the laptop. As mentioned above, the device is small enough to fit into your pocket but not so small that the keyboard is inconvenient. The product could have actually been smaller, but Sony wanted the keyboard to be easy to use.

The second area the VAIO Lifestyle PC will change your life is its “ubiquitous connectivity.” Equipped with the latest and fastest version of Wi-Fi and built-in Bluetooth, GPS, and Verizon-powered mobile broadband – this laptop is sure to keep you connected. The notebook also runs Windows Vista operating system.

The device includes a 1,600 X 768 pixel display on an 8-inch LED backlit screen. The battery life is said to last four hours, but there is an option to purchase a higher-capacity battery that would last eight hours.

Pricing starts at $900 for 60GB of storage and goes up to $1,500 for 128GB of storage. Pre-orders are available online at www.sony.com/pr/pseries and will be shipped around the first of February.
