Google has stepped up its battle with Microsoft for users of online applications. The Google Apps Premier Edition launched today, and it will compete with Microsoft’s well-known Office software and their Office Live services. Google Apps combines a number of applications like Gmail and Docs & Spreadsheets into one place anyone with a web browser can reach. The Premier Edition is available for free until April 30th, when Google will charge fifty dollars per user account per year. Premier customers get some extra services, like tech support from Google and the option to turn off advertisements in Gmail.
